Reading chord diagrams

Chord diagrams show the fretboard from the side: vertical lines = strings (usually high E on the right), horizontal lines = frets. Numbers or dots show where to put your fingers (1=index, 2=middle, 3=ring, 4=pinky).

O = play the string open (no finger). X = do not play that string. The top of the diagram is the nut (fret 0); higher frets are shown below.
